Issue Position: Individual Liberties

Issue Position

Date: Jan. 1, 2012

I came to libertarianism after reading the brilliant 1850 book by French economist and philospher Frederic Bastiat called The Law, the entire text of which can be read online here: http://bastiat.org/en/the_law.html#SECTION_G002

I believe that government's sole legitimate function is to protect each individual's rights to life, liberty, and property. When government enacts and enforces laws that do anything beyond this, it is overstepping its bounds and restricting our liberty. I will work to get government back to its primary function.
